Differential diagnosis was a term used to describe the process of differentiating between two or more conditions which share similar signs and symptoms.

With EMF patients, there are a multitude of symptoms and it can be difficult to obtain a true diagnosis, thus making these cases extremely complicated.

One must take into account that the nervous system transmits signals between different parts of the body and is essentially the body’s electrical wiring. EMF exposure can affect the electrical signals and transmission of information to the rest of the body.

Neurological symptoms such as burning, tingling, numbness, pins/needles sensation, shooting, fire-like, and electrical shocks are common complaints. As we dive deeper into the neurological dysfunction, patients can also experience autonomic nervous system dysfunction.

Just to name a few, these symptoms may include sweating, palpitations, changes in digestion, and blood pressure fluctuations. This leads most patients to have common diagnoses including anxiety, arrhythmias, IBS, POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome), and hypertension.

It isn’t until after a patient’s environment is evaluated and assessed for EMF exposure, that a provider can pull many indicators together to obtain a diagnosis of EMF sensitivity, and recommend appropriate therapies to treat the EMF patient.
