Global Boycott of 5G Cellphones as Consumers Refuse to be “Test Dummies”

The creatively-charged We Are Not SAM Boycott 5G Cellphones campaign has this week been launched worldwide.

Thanks to intense dedication by the NRST activist group, whose many accomplishments are listed below, theirs is one of the few municipalities in Australia that remains 5G free. Now they have set their sights on a global mission – to educate smart phone consumers on the shocking failure of SAM test dummies to establish genuine cellphone safety resulting in the urgent need to boycott 5G cellphones.

“We Are Not SAM” campaign creator Rinat Strahlhofer, an ex-telecommunications insider who’s now intent on exposing the truth about the industry, said people would be shocked to discover the truth about their smart phones.

There’s a dummy in the room the Telcomm companies don’t want you to know about. It’s us, cellphone users. We have been the actual biological test dummies for decades as cellphone safety guidelines pulled the wool over our eyes, and now we’re also being asked to be the live dummies testing never-before-used-in-consumer-devices 5G frequencies.

Meet SAM the Specific Anthropomorphic Mannequin

SAM is a test dummy used by the telecommunications industry across the world to measure the tissue heating effects of wireless radiation of 5G and all other mobile phones. This test was developed in the 1990’s long before cellphones became so widely used, and it does not test for the biological effects of the microwave radiation emitted by cellphones, which (in addition to heating tissue) causes disruption of cell function, damage to DNA, interference with the blood brain barrier, penetration deep into the brain, or any of the other worrisome effects that have now been well established by scientific research in the last 25 years.

Yet, the tissue heating effect the only result that determines cellphone safety standards. And consumers are refusing to be the test dummy for all the other effects that science has found in over 2,000 biological studies of the effects of cellphones on humans and other living things.

SAM Represents Only 3% of Actual Cellphone Users

During the test, the SAM plastic head is filled with a liquid to see if it heats up one degree within a 6-minute call. His head is based on a 100kg, six-foot tall adult male military recruit. Only 3% of the population fit the stereotype of SAM. And it certainly does not describe children, who’s smaller stature and less thick skulls, makes them more susceptible. What sort of “safety” oversight only protects 3% of the population?

Have you ever wondered why manufacturers recommend that mobile phone devices be held at distances of 5 to 25 millimetres away from the body to meet the safety standards? It’s because the SAM dummy is designed in such a way that its ‘ear’, which by the way was astoundingly reclassified in recent years from “head” to “limb” to enable even higher exposure to be used as a safety guideline, can be as much as 10 millimetres away from the cell phone. Most phone users put their phones directly to their heads.

So, in addition to the “rigging” of the safety testing of cellphones that has been occurring regarding all previous generations of cellphone technology, and is still being used to establish 5G safety, consumers are now not being told they are serving as the real-live biological test dummies of new 5G frequencies and high speed data protocols.

Northern Rivers for Safe Technology (NRST) was originally formed in 2019 in direct response to community concerns around 5G. The grassroots group masterminded the global boycott-5G-phones campaign We Are Not SAM, which is backed by leading scientists and doctors in the field. It is also involved in a host of advocacy and awareness efforts for greater tech safety standards. The group is based in Byron Bay, Australia. Its actions on the frontlines and behind the scenes have inspired others nationally and globally. Since its inception, the group has:

• successfully lobbied its local council to take action on 5G. In 2020, Byron Shire Council became the first council in Australia to call for a moratorium on a proposed 5G tower upgrade.

• organised a roster of constant presence at the site of the moratorium to prevent telco workers from conducting any tower upgrade. The vigil was the first of its kind in Australia and received national media coverage.

• launched the We Are Not SAM (WANS) Boycott 5G cellphones campaign

• lobbied local, state and federal authorities, regulatory bodies and the telecommunications industry in Australia to push for more rigorous safety standards around 5G and mobile phone devices.

• formed alliances with a vast network of groups in Australia and globally, such as Children’s Health Defense (chaired by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr), Environmental Health Trust (headed by Dr Devra Davis), Environment and Communities Safe From Radiation (ECSFR), and all Australian national Safe Technology groups.

• engaged with social influencers and media platforms, with Northern Rivers for Safe Technology featured in national news programs.

• organised community events, rallies and action meetings to raise awareness about 5G and safe technology

• created a 40+ page Strategy Kit to support individuals and communities to take action against the roll out of 5G.
