What can Happen when You Raise the Question “Is 5G Safe?”

The Answer Might Not Address the Question

Michael Bevington, the Chairman of Electrosenstivity UK (ES-UK), was in for a surprise when his charity, the ES-UK, asked that probing question on a free poster that has been widely distributed in the United Kingdom and worldwide.

The answer that came back was that its recent 5G poster campaign was officially challenged by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) and charged with misleading the public.

The reply correspondence from Michael, which has been addressed to the ASA and submitted in October 2019, rebuts the challenge and raises some very insightful points, such as conflict of interest seeing as how Advertising agencies are financed by marketing communication advertisers such as mobile phone (telecommunication) companies, and numerous direct statements in strong defense of the poster.

The ES-UK Trustees do not wish to follow the pro-industry cartel in denying the scientific evidence or mislead readers with its minority viewpoint, a process described by the experts in this field as ‘unscientific’ and ‘corruption’.

He first begins by refuting the the ASA’s jurisdiction over a Poster that is not an ‘Advert’ or a ‘Marketing Communication’. There is nothing being advertised or marketed in a marketing sense, since asking a scientific question is neither advertising nor marketing. It is therefore not relevant to the ASA’s CAP Code, which defines itself as “The UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising and Direct & Promotional Marketing”.

He continues clearly pointing out that the ASA has no recognized capability or expertise in the science of bioelectromagnetics, and offers page after page of scientific evidence in support of statements made on the poster.

His poignant ending is underscored by the tremendous feedback from worldwide users of the poster, noting the informed public rather expected the poster to read “How Unsafe is 5G?” and not “How Safe is 5G?”.

He concludes his 9-page rebuttal saying:

The aim of the trustees of ES-UK is, and has always been, to ensure, that all its Information Posters are ‘legal, decent, honest and truthful’. Indeed, the trustees would not accept any which fell below this standard. In addition, its Information Posters are all checked carefully by involved experts to ensure that they are scientifically accurate and reliable. Thus there can be no danger of misleading any reader by providing a solely minority viewpoint or inaccurate information. We are fully convinced that all the majority scientific viewpoint, and even most of the minority-viewpoint, accept that 5G has not been proved safe and that our Information Poster is right to raise this issue.
